On the front page of the Herald, there was a photo taken in Rocky Mountain Pawn & Gun that shows several assault rifles with high capacity magazines.
Last I heard, it is illegal in Colorado to sell magazines with a capacity of over 15.
Police frequently visit pawn shops, so they must be aware of this illegal activity. Yet they apparently choose to ignore it.
The majority of Coloradans have chosen to try to limit the carnage from the next time some crazy decides to shoot up a school or movie theater. The police and sheriff’s deputies should not be allowed to selectively enforce (or not enforce) laws because of their personal biases.
The Durango police chief and the La Plata County sheriff have sworn to uphold the laws of Colorado. We should hold them to their oath.
