Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua, the parent company that owns and operates King Coal II, whose hundreds of trucks daily degrade the rural environment on County Road 120, is based in Chihauhua, Mexico, and is eager to supply coal to help produce Donald Trump’s massive border wall proposed to prevent immigration from Mexico and South America into the U.S. The Mexican-based company wants to support Trump’s folly to prevent their own people from entering the U.S., despite Trump labeling Mexicans as “criminals and rapists.”
The hypocrisy would be unbelievable except that it involves Trump, who lost the popular vote by an estimated 2 million votes. Local advocates have expressed concerns about GCC embracing the highly controversial issue, but once again, the Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Alliance – industry puppets – argue that “In this country, people profit off the most immoral things every day.”
These groups have repeatedly shown their disregard for the health and safety of rural La Plata County families living in the wake of the coal trucks, so why not help build an immoral wall with the local coal too.
