Fort Lewis College will present The History and Ethics of Opioids as part of the Lifelong Learning Lecture series at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 in Room 130 of Noble Hall, 1000 Rim Drive.
The lecture will be facilitated by Dr. John A. K. (Kip) Boyd.
Boyd will summarize the history of opioid use and abuse from the 19th Century to present day. He will discuss ethical issues of medical use and regulation.
Boyd started working as a family physician in Durango in 1983 and has worked at Mercy Regional Medical Center as a medical provider, chief medical officer and as medical director of provider regulatory affairs and ethics.
