Animas Valley Grange to discuss old apples

Animas Valley Grange, 7271 County Road 203.

A free talk, titled “Old Colorado Apples,” will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Animas Valley Grange, 7271 County Road 203.

Jude and Addie Schuenemeyer, who founded the Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project, will talk about the varieties of heritage apples introduced to Colorado by fruit-growing pioneers and the project’s efforts to identify genetics from historic orchards in the area. They will discuss the preservation of Colorado’s fruit-growing heritage in an effort to restore the orchard culture and economy in the region.

The event is free and open to all. Refreshments will be served.
