Durango photographer Paul Boyer’s “My years with an open shutter: A retrospective” exhibit is on display in the Red Room of the Open Shutter Gallery through Sept. 14.
The retrospective features images specially selected by Boyer because of their association to Open Shutter, where he was featured in the gallery’s first show in 2001.
The current exhibit includes a variety of color photographs including portraits, landscapes and travel photography.
Boyer is well known for his ambitious portrait project and the resulting book of the same name, One Hundred Over 100, a study of 100 centenarians from around the United States and Canada, produced in conjunction with writer Jim Heynen.
Wilderness photography by local alpinist Ron Martin is also on display in The Vault at Open Shutter through Sept. 14.
Martin focuses on capturing rarely photographed Durango-area alpine views, and is particularly drawn to violent mountain storms in monsoon season.
Getting completely wet in the downpours is part of the experience for Martin, and lightning is a constant presence.
