I read the story aloud to my children about the disabled dog, Lt. Dan, who had been recently adopted after 17 months at the La Plata County Humane Society (Herald, Feb. 13).
We all marveled at the kindness and dedication of the LPCHS staff who gave this mistreated and malnourished dog a new life and a safe, loving home for so long.
We also applaud the Herald for covering the sort of news that infuses optimism and gratitude into our collective lives in this town.
