Broncos place punter Marquette King on injured reserve

Colby Wadman was called up from practice squad
Denver Broncos punter Marquette King takes part in drills at NFL football training camp, in Englewood, Colo back in August. Injured punter Marquette King missed another practice on Friday and the Broncos promoted new practice squad Colby Wadman to take his place this weekend against the New York Jets.

ENGLEWOOD – Punter Colby Wadman was promoted by the Broncos from their practice squad after Denver put scuffling punter Marquette King on injured reserve with a thigh injury.

King has had a poor first month in Denver after signing a three-year, $7 million deal following his release from the Oakland Raiders last spring.

The Broncos brought in Wadman last week to push King, but he had another bad outing against Kansas City on Monday night and his 35-yard punt gave the Chiefs great field position in the final minutes for their game-winning touchdown drive in a 27-23 win over the Broncos.

King limped off the field following that punt and he was sidelined all week as Wadman, who graduated from UC Davis in 2016, got all the work at practice.

The Broncos (2-2) visit the New York Jets (1-3) on Sunday.
