The Fort Lewis College football team had seven players who were named to the All Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team on Thursday, including one first team honor, two second team selections and four honorable mention members.
George Marpaung was named to the First Team All-RMAC. It was his second consecutive season to be named to the first team. The junior defensive lineman made 14 tackles for a loss and finished the season with 45 tackles, including 1½ sacks.
Donell Pleasant III and Suli Tukumoeatu made the second team for the Skyhawks (1-9). Pleasant, a senior defensive back, had 68 tackles, which was tied for the third most for FLC despite Pleasant missing a game with an injury. He ranked third in the conference and 39th nationally in solo tackles per game at 5.2. Last year, Pleasant was named to the first team.
Tukumoeatu had a stellar first season at FLC after he transferred from Snow College. The junior defensive back was third in the conference and eighth nationally in total fumbles recovered with three and finished the season with 66 tackles and nine passes broken up. Tukumoeatu was also a force in special teams and scored a touchdown on defense.
Highlighting the honorable mention team was junior punter Max Peets. He finished the season with a punting average of 44.1 yards, which was second in the conference and third in the nation. The junior finished the season with a punt of at least 50 yards in every game this season.
Rounding out the honorable mentions were two defensive linemen and an offensive lineman. Senior defensive lineman Joshua Cuellar played all 10 games and racked up 33 tackles. His fellow senior defensive lineman Christopher Blanton had 40 tackles and 2½ sacks. He registered at least five tackles in four games this season. Last year, Blanton was named to the second team.
Senior offensive lineman Jeffrey Brinkley made the honorable mention team for the second consecutive season. He started all 10 games and helped the offense rack up almost 3,000 total yards, including 1,989 through the air and 960 in the running game.
The Fort Lewis College men’s soccer team added another off-season accolade, as junior defender Ty Lang was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-South Central Region Second Team on Wednesday.
Lang was named to the All-RMAC First Team last month. He started all 17 games for the Skyhawks this season.
He was tied on the team with total minutes played, as he racked up 1,591.
He also finished second on the team in assists with four and had the third most goals on the team with four.
