First Southwest Bank raises starting wages

First Southwest Bank recently announced that it raised hourly wages for entry-level employees to $14 plus benefits, in response to the recent tax law changes.

“According to the La Plata County Thrive Living Wage Coalition, higher minimum wages positively affect all of our local economies through many ripple effects,” Jodi Hayden, First Southwest Bank Human Resources Director, said in a news release. “Economic evidence shows that financially-satisfied employees are more productive, which then increases service quality and customer satisfaction.”

Increased wages were effected across the bank’s six branches in rural Colorado.
