Denver police: Car veers into scooters, kills man

DENVER – Police were searching for the driver of a vehicle that veered into a group of people riding scooters in downtown Denver on Monday morning, killing one person and seriously injuring a second.

The hit-and-run reportedly occurred at about 1:30 a.m. when a silver vehicle veered into a turning lane with four people riding on scooters, police said. Two of the riders were hit by the vehicle, including a man who was thrown to the sidewalk and died, KMGH-TV reported.

The vehicle, identified as a Chevy Cobalt, did not stop and fled the scene, police said. The driver is wanted on potential charges of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
