Two wildfires burning near Shalona Lake north of Durango had been fully contained as of Thursday afternoon.
Both fires were about 100 feet by 100 feet in size, said Scot Davis with the Durango Fire Protection District.
One fire occurred in the 36700 block of U.S. Highway 550. The other fire was located a few miles north near Shalona Lake off County Road 250.
A helicopter from the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad discovered the fires and made bucket drops to douse the flames. DFPD also sent two brush trucks, one engine and a battalion chief.
The fires were reported about 10:20 a.m.
The cause of the fires had not been determined as of 12:30 p.m., Davis said. Initial reports indicate the fires started near the train tracks.
