Drop off your pumpkins after Halloween

The city of Durango Sustainability Division will partner with Bear Smart Durango, Colorado State University Extension Office and local farmers and ranchers to offer free pumpkin drop-off on the Friday and Saturday after Halloween at two locations:

From noon to 6 p.m. Friday, drop-off will be offered at La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, drop-off will be offered at the Three Springs Durango Police Department substation, 545 Wilson Gulch Drive.Pumpkins will be used as animal feed, mostly for pigs, as a more sustainable option than throwing them away. Those who participate should ensure pumpkins are free of candles, wax, paint and bleach.
