History Live Durango announces schedule

Join History Live Durango in a series of free events in September and the beginning of October celebrating the humanities in Southwest Colorado.

Events were organized by the Southwest Colorado Humanities Roundtable, a regional collaborative of nonprofit organizations that produces public humanities programs.

The programming lineup includes:

PIVOT: Skateboard Deck Art: Center for Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College is exhibiting more than 100 skateboard decks painted by 30 different Native American artists. PIVOT is on view by appointment.1918 Durango: The Pandemic, The War and The Peace: KSUT Four Corners Public Radio will bring to life the impact of the Spanish Flu and World War I on Southwest Colorado. For more information, visit www.ksut.org/programs.11 a.m. Sept 12, Apollo 14 Moon Tree Planting: Join Durango-born astronaut Stuart Roosa in celebrating the 50th anniversary of his mission to the moon. Roosa will plant a tree that he took with him to the moon and back. This event will be livestreamed on the Powerhouse Science Center’s Facebook page.Sept. 17, 24 and Oct 1: RMPBS Features Southwest Colorado and Colorado History Rocky Mountain Public Broadcasting will air two episodes of the Colorado Experience series.
