Wherry is from Boulder and spent 13 years as a top road-cycling professional. He won the U.S. Professional Road Race Championships in 2005, the same year he moved to Durango, retired from cycling in 2009, spent two years as a team director and traveled the world with one of the top professional cycling teams.
