Missing Durango High students found

Teens found in Salt Lake City
Jack Florentin, 15, who went missing Friday, was found with his friend, Jenica Baier, in Salt Lake City on Monday.

Some worried parents were relieved Monday afternoon as their children were found in Salt Lake City.

Jack Florentin, 15, and Jenica Baier, 14, had last been seen at 7:30 a.m. Friday waiting for the trolley to go to Big Picture High School, where they are students.

“The weekend has been like one long, big day,” said Brad Florentin, Jack’s father, shortly after 4 p.m. Monday. “We just heard about an hour ago that they’ve been found in Salt Lake City and are being held in a juvenile detention center there. We’re not sure why they left because they were not in trouble at school, and they were not in trouble at home.”

Candice Baier, Jenica’s mother, also said it was a long weekend.

“They didn’t go to school Friday, and since then, it’s been ‘Game on’ trying to find them,” she said.

Brad and Cally Florentin and Candice Baier left for Salt Lake on Monday afternoon to pick up their children.

“We’re going in one car, so we all hear the same story,” Brad Florentin said. “There was no indication from family or friends that they were unhappy, but they’re at an age that’s full of drama, with superheightened emotions.”
