Durango Public Library receives state grant

The Durango Public Library has received a grant from the Colorado State Library.

The Durango Public Library has received a $14,672 grant from the Colorado State Library through the State Grants to Libraries Act.

Grant money will be used in 2017 to support the library’s English as a Second Language collection for adults, bilingual/Spanish materials for young people, high-interest books for teens and general collections at the main library and both branches.

The State Grants to Libraries program was funded by the Legislature to increase access to early literacy and educational materials.

During the 2016-17 fiscal year, this noncompetitive program administered by the Colorado State Library funded 315 public libraries, academic libraries and school districts.
