Durango’s inaugural foray into the CHSAA Class 4A Boys Lacrosse State Championships ended in an eight-goal loss to Valor Christian.
No. 3 Valor Christian (12-4) beat No. 14 Durango High School (10-5) 13-5 in the first round of the state tournament Wednesday night on the Front Range.
No other statistics were immediately available.
Valor Christian will play No. 6 Steamboat Springs (14-2) on Friday in the state quarterfinals. Steamboat Springs beat No. 11 Conifer 14-4 on Wednesday night.
Durango scored two goals in the first period and two in the second, but the Demons trailed 4-2 after one and 7-4 at the half. Valor Christian scored five in the third and one in the fourth.
Durango scored its only second-half goal in the fourth period.
The double-digit win total was the most in DHS boys lacrosse program history.
