The San Juan County Extension Office will hold a hay and forage growers workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at McGee Park in Farmington.
Registration will take place from 8:30 to 9 a.m. at the McGee Park Multipurpose Building, Room C. Presentations will begin at 9 a.m., and topics will include: weed management; Roundup Ready alfalfa considerations; rotational crops for grazing; how to collect soil for testing; annual and perennial grass hay selection, establishment and weed and fertility management; Farmington alfalfa trials and irrigation; and Russian olive control.
The Cooperative Weed Management group will hold its annual meeting from 4 to 5 p.m. The public is welcome.
Workshop registration is $50 at the door or online at www.sjchayandforage.eventbrite.com. Registration includes program materials, lunch, door prizes and continuing education credits.
