Margaret Mayer, environmental instructor and activist from Dine College, in Tsaile, Arizona, will give a presentation about the Endangered Species Act at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Sunlight Room at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
Four representatives to Congress have introduced a bill, House Resolution No. 4838 – the PAW and FIN Act, which would restore the Endangered Species Act.
Currently, administration of habitats for endangered species is not protected. Habitat loss is a major factor contributing to endangered species.
Mayer will discuss what people can do to protect and conserve endangered species.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sign petitions, which ask their representative to support the PAW and FIN Act. The petitions will be sent to Center of Biodiversity and Congressional representatives.
