I agree with the sentiment expressed in recent letters about the importance of supporting local businesses.
One thing businesses can do to help us help them would be to offer e-gift cards. Doing so might help them maintain at least some degree of cash flow during this difficult time.
Business owners should check if their current payment system offers that capability. If not, there are a number of cloud-based services which are relatively quick and straightforward to set up.
Perhaps the Herald could host a page with links to local businesses offering e-gift cards, as sort of a one-stop resource for locals wanting to support them. As a local developer, I’d be willing to assist with that endeavor.
