SUCAP offering grocery shuttle

Southern Ute Community Action Programs (SUCAP) is announcing the start of a new but temporary public transit service connecting the Ignacio area with the Grocery Store in Bayfield in response to the pending shutdown of the Ignacio Shur Valu grocery store on Monday. SUCAP will continue its current Ignacio-Durango bus schedule.

Shuttles are set for Monday, Wednesday and Friday, leaving the Ignacio Library at 11:30, the Ignacio Senior Center at 11:40, and returning to the center at 1;25 and the library at 1:35. Roundtrip fare is $3.

"Some people already use Road Runner to grocery shop in Durango," SUCAP said in a release. This offers them a shorter trip on the east side of the county." The Ignacio Senior Center, also a SUCAP program division, will add one trip per week of assisted shopping for persons with disabilities and the elderly. The Senior Center will continue its weekly assisted grocery shopping trip to Durango from Ignacio.
