Good ADA access is good business

Throughout the year and on the anniversary (July 26) of the Americans with Disabilities Act, I celebrate and recognize the progress that has been made by reaffirming the principles of equality and inclusion and recommitting my efforts to reach full ADA compliance. Southwest Center for Independence does a Friday Afternoon Club once a month with employees. Most of our employees have disabilities so we look for a local bar & restaurant that is accessible, preferably on the north end of town. Our choices are pretty limited. Many thanks to Machos north, Home Slice north, J Bo’s, Serious Texas north, Steamworks, and Animas Brewing Company. If your place is accessible and we’ve missed you, please let us know! If you would like assistance making your business more accessible, please contact us at 970-259-1672.

The ADA was passed in 1990 – the 28th anniversary is coming up. All businesses are required to be accessible. Period. There is no grandfather clause in the ADA. Good access is good business. We can help.
