Sixth Judicial District Attorney Christian Champagne is running unopposed for another four-year term.
No one should underestimate the difficulty of this job, which requires Champagne to make decisions, for practical and principled reasons, that are bound to make some or many people unhappy. We are fortunate Champagne is bidding to come back as the top prosecutor for La Plata, Archuleta and San Juan counties.
In 2016, Champagne said he would create more alternatives to incarceration and take more cases to trial. He has, and he is not done yet. The Herald endorses Champagne for 6th Judicial District Attorney.
