Best bets this weekend will include various Public Lands Day events Saturday in and around Durango.
The second annual statewide Colorado Public Lands Day observance will be held Saturday and conservation-related events and activities are scheduled in the area, including cleanup and trail-work events, hiking, a plein-air drawing workshop, birdwatching and a public lands party.
Great Old Broads for Wilderness and La Plata Broadband will hold a cleanup event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Ice Lakes Trail. Participants will meet at 8 a.m. at Durango Community Recreation Center. Participants will meet at the junction of Horse Gulch Road and Meadow Trail, located past the Horse Gulch Trail entrance off East Eighth Avenue. Tools and instruction will be provided.
