Purgatory Resort to offer free lift tickets this weekend

Final weekend of the season marks latest Purg has ever been opened
Skiers and snowboarders can expect spring-like conditions this weekend at Purgatory, but they can also ski for free. The resort will offer free lift tickets Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Purgatory Resort will offer free skiing Saturday and Sunday for its final weekend of the season.

“It’s Purgatory’s way of saying thanks for a fantastic season,” said Kim Oyler, spokeswoman for the resort.

“We were extremely excited to extend the season to April 30 with all the great snow that we’ve received, so we wanted to celebrate and offer free lift tickets for everybody.”

Lifts 1 and 3 will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, she said.

Purgatory received 22 feet of snow this season, and more is in the forecast this weekend. This marks the latest Purgatory has ever been open; the previous record was set during the 1978-79 season, when Purgatory opened Nov. 16 and closed April 28, Oyler said.

Skiers and snowboarders can stop by the ticket window to receive a free lift ticket.

The resort also will have live music and drink specials at the base area.
