Snowberger prompted progress for 9-R

We write to offer our sincere thanks to Dan Snowberger for his nine years of service to Durango School District 9-R and to all of us within the district – parents, staff and taxpayers. Just look at the data and there is no doubt that the district and our kids have made significant progress during his tenure.

It is a tough job. The average tenure for superintendents in Colorado is only a few years. So often the teachers’ unions, local media and disgruntled taxpayers and parents target the superintendent for everything they find wrong with public education – the latest being COVID-19.

While acknowledging the current hardships, we believe the community should stop to celebrate what a fantastic run we have had in our public education system with Dan at the helm. We wish him well, wherever another community will be blessed with his service. Thanks, Dan!
