A thunderstorm blew through La Plata County during the 4 p.m. hour bringing strong winds.
The strongest recorded wind gust during the storm was 45 mph at the Durango-La Plata County Airport, Norv Larson a meteorologist with the National Weather Service said.
The storm was moving north and was expected to hit Silverton, but Silverton was not expected to see such strong gusts.
Scattered thunderstorms were expected to linger in the area Saturday night, Larson said.
“As the night goes on you are going to see less chance for wind and better chance for rain reaching the ground,” he said.
Sunday was expected to be partially cloudy.
