Recall would remove threat to landowners

Gwen Lachelt recently stated that the $60,000 cost of a recall election is not proper.

This is the same person who authorized nearly $300,000 for a study that led the county commissioners to propose a new land use code, which is very detrimental to land owners and agricultural operations in the county.

She also states “that the study is only a first draft,” and has not yet been enforced upon us. In fact, in a private commissioners meeting, she said “We are going to pass this change at our first opportunity.”

Julie Westendorff agreed with her, so with only three commissioners to vote, it is sure to be enacted unless the public is able to stop it. The recall election process would, if successful, eliminate this threat to all La Plata County property owners.
