Our river trail is a wonderful amenity. But at times, it is crowded with bikers, walkers, wandering children and dogs. Not everyone realizes that there are dangers and conflicts.
A new conflict is electric bikes, which can go faster than average bicycles and certainly faster than most walkers and many runners. The addition of faster, heavier E-bikes does not seem to be suited for areas with walkers and children.
E-bikes should be in bike lanes on streets, which would leave walkers, families and joggers a safer route to get to their destinations, or to just enjoy the day.
