Accident on East Eighth Avenue

A driver in a Ford van on East Eighth Avenue attempting to turn left onto Second Street collided with a Ford Escort traveling south on East Eighth Avenue just after 1 p.m. Thursday, said Cpl. Glenn Edwards with the Durango Police Department. The man driving the van was not injured, but the man behind the wheel of the Escort was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries, Edwards said. A male passenger was in the Escort, but Edwards did not know if he was injured. Traffic on Second Street was blocked for about 40 minutes. Edwards said no citations have been issued.
