Checkup time

Kyle Watson, a first-year nursing student at Southwest Colorado Community College, gets Lawrence Nass’ vein on the first try while taking a blood sample on Saturday during the 9Health Fair at Escalante Middle School. About 500 people showed up for the event to have blood samples taken and other tests offered by health-care providers. Other 9Health Fairs will take place in Bayfield, Ignacio, Mancos and Cortez.
