In 2016, I approached the La Plata County Planning Department for approval to sell my golf course.
I needed their approval for a boundary adjustment. The Planning Department denied the boundary adjustment and the sale of the business.
I spoke privately with two of the La Plata County commissioners concerning my attempt to sell the golf course. Neither commissioner offered any support, nor did they have any disagreement of criticism of the planning process. They unequivocally endorse the planning process being administered by the county planning department.
My conclusion is the planning process is a pay-to-play sham; even for a simplistic request to sell an existing business.
My wife and I have discontinued our golf operation. We thank our customers for the 23 years of their support.
