A random walk through downtown Durango

Tim Walsworth, center, of the Durango Business Improvement District, said the idea behind giving out $10 gift certificates this week is to reward shoppers for spending money downtown and inspire them to visit more downtown businesses. Melisa Jackson, right, of Bank of Colorado, and Walsworth spent an hour Wednesday afternoon handing out 10 vouchers for downtown businesses to strangers, including Annette Tafoya of Farmington, who was shopping on Main Avenue near the train station. The random rewards will continue through Friday and coincide with Random Acts of Kindness Week.
