The recent report of misappropriation of city funds is a sad situation.
However, it does show why the City Council’s more deliberate, questioning budget process should be welcomed.
This is not to say that they uncovered the situation, but perhaps the more engaging process of questioning each line item helped draw out information leading to its discovery.
The CBI’s investigation will take time; in the meantime, let’s be glad we have councilors who are getting into the details of how our money is spent.
