Vikings walk off against 'Cats

Sometimes when you trifle with the Vikings, you get the horns.

And after intentionally walking two Center batters to load the bases, with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and last inning in hopes of getting a force-out anywhere, Ignacio surrendered a "walk-off" base hit and succumbed 9-8 in non-league Class 2A action last Friday.

Played in Alamosa at Adams State University's field, the game saw the Bobcats take a 3-2 lead after three frames behind starter Tucker Ward, but the junior would unfortunately receive a no-decision after being lifted following the fourth.

He had given up only two hits, walked just two and fanned five.

Junior Austin McCaw was 3-for-4 hitting with two RBI for IHS, Juanito Medina went 3-4 with two runs scored, and Javan Webb was 2-2 with a double and three ribbies.

IHS (2-4), begins 2A/1A San Juan Basin League battle tomorrow at Dolores, beginning at 11 a.m. The Bears will go in standing 3-4 overall after starting their league slate on the road Tuesday and thumping struggling Nucla 14 to 2.
