Durango Celtic Festival is next weekend

Bands from Scotland, Ireland to headline 4th annual event

The fourth annual Durango Celtic Festival will be next weekend, March 10-13 at the Henry Strater Theatre and Irish Embassy Pub.

Headline bands this year are Daimh from Scotland (it's pronounced dive) and a repeat appearance by Irish Music Award winner Runa. Local and regional Celtic bands also will perform. Along with performances, there will be jam sessions and workshops.

The festival opens with a ceilidh (pronounced cay-ley) starting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Strater, with Runa, the local Westwind Pipe Band, and the Next Generation Fiddlers. That will be followed by an open session.

Runa will be the headline performer Friday evening, and Daimh will headline Saturday night.

The festival ends Sunday at the Irish Embassy with Pub Church in the morning and the weekly music jam that starts at 12:30 p.m.
