Drivers can expect delays Friday on Red Mountain Pass as a crew installs a drain under U.S. Highway 550 to prevent further damage caused by snowmelt.
The Colorado Department of Transportation crew will be working on the road Friday to repair damage caused by moisture and freezing temperatures. The crew will also install a drain under the highway to prevent further damage from precipitation.
CDOT expected brief delays just south of the summit, near mile market 79. Motorists should be prepared for stops and one-lane alternating traffic guided by flaggers.
CDOT urges the traveling public to be aware of workers and equipment on the roadway and encourages drivers to slow down. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the day.
