Is there a herd of glowing reindeer grazing in your front yard? Did you fall off a ladder installing the best Christmas lights display yet? Do strangers knock on your door just to say thanks for making their day?
If your house or a neighbor’s is lighting up the night sky in this darkest time of the year, and you think it’s something special, we want to know about it.
After a three-year hiatus, I’m getting back on the road to survey the highways and byways of La Plata County to pick my 10 favorite displays. But no matter how peripatetic I am, I’m sure to miss a lot.
Please send me your nominations no later than Sunday – the results will be in the Herald on Dec. 14, so I’ve got to get going.
We’re collecting photos for a photo gallery and online map, as well. Earlier is better than later, just because the photos are sure to increase the traffic in some parts of town with new visitors out for a light-viewing drive, but we’ll accept photos until Dec. 22.
See the box for submission details.
And don’t worry if you see a lady on crutches at your door stopping to ask some questions, or one of our photographers circling to get the best shot: It will just mean you made my cut.
