75 years ago: The wife of Nell Erwin found her husband dead after returning from Durango to their home in Silverton. He died of “overtaxing of the heart” at 36 years old.
50 Years Ago: It was announced at the Grande Palace restaurant that The Durango Herald sports editor Roy Pace won the Distinguished Service Award for 1966.
25 years ago: The standings and results for the Durango Parks and Recreation Department’s Adult Broomball League listed teams Trimble Hot Springs and “Stiff Sticks” in first, teams Eagle Block and C.T.A. in second, and teams Durango OB-GYN, Grizzly Burrzs, Subway Bamf’s, Carver’s Brewers, and B.B. Jones in third.
