The Durango High School boys swim team got a trio of second-place finishes Saturday at the Western Slope District Championships in Grand Junction.
Jesse Rubenstein took second place in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle swims, finishing in 22.84 seconds and 50.25 seconds, respectively.
Josh Miller took second in the 100 breaststroke in 1 minute, 5.79 seconds. He also took fourth in the 100 free in 53.10.
The Demons’ six-person team took fifth out of six in the meet, finishing with 105 points to beat Gunnison’s 73. Grand Junction District 51 won the meet with 430 points.
Other results for DHS:
Miller, Paul Cross, Rubenstein and Tommy Pannell took fifth in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:55.36.
Pannell took fifth in the 200 free in 2:05.03.
Jackson Paine took 10th in the 100 free in 56.60.
Miller, Cross, Paine and Rubenstein took fifth in the 200 free relay in 1:39.62.
All six of the DHS swimmers have qualified for state in at least one event. The CHSAA Class 4A Boys Swimming State Championships will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton.
