A crash Thursday outside of Pagosa Springs on U.S. Highway 160 has left one dead and four injured.

Monday

12:54 p.m. A wire or a cord was in the road causing a traffic hazard near East Third Avenue and 32nd Street.

1:24 p.m. A man was drinking alcohol and sharpening an ax on the sidewalk near Main Avenue and 10th Street.

10:04 p.m. At least three people were rummaging through trash cans in the 2200 block of Main Avenue.

La Plata County Sheriff’s Office

Monday

7:34 p.m. A 51-year-old man suffered a cut on his foot from a knife at the La Plata County Jail. The man was experiencing uncontrollable bleeding.

Friday

5:51 a.m. Mail was scattered on the road near county roads 226 and 225, northeast of Elmore’s Corner.

1:08 p.m. Someone reported mail stolen in the 2900 block of County Road 228, northeast of Elmore’s Corner.

Durango Fire

Firefighters and medics responded to 12 calls Monday, including a dumpster fire near Crestview Drive and Leyden Street, a report of smoke inside a structure in the 3100 block of East Animas Village Drive and a report of smoke in the Rockwood area.
