1,000 Days in Sanctuary Campaign to petition for woman living at Mancos church

Group wants Rep. Tipton to sponsor private immigration bill
Rosa Sabido is planning to petition U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton to sponsor a private immigration bill.

Rosa Sabido and the Rosa Belongs Here movement will launch the 1,000 Days in Sanctuary Campaign on Dec. 2, as they aim to gather signatures for a petition to U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton.

The campaign is asking Tipton to consider sponsoring a private immigration bill for Sabido to gain lawful permanent residency. If the bill is passed by both houses of Congress and signed by the president, Sabido would be permitted to leave sanctuary without risking deportation.

The campaign will kick off from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 2 with a Petition Launch and Open House at the Mancos United Methodist Church, 470 W. Grand Ave., in Mancos. Refreshments will be provided.
