1,042 get their power back

Underground junction box failing caused outage

An interruption in power left 1,042 La Plata Electric Association customers without electricity Tuesday for almost two hours in the Hillcrest neighborhood.

A connection in an underground junction box failed, triggering the outage at 9:28 a.m., said LPEA Operations Manager Steve Gregg.

All but six nonresidential customers in the Hillcrest and SkyRidge areas and down Goeglein Gulch toward town had their power restored by 11:18 a.m.

The six nonresidential sites are pumps or light meters, Gregg said.
