A 13-year-old girl who was reported missing Saturday afternoon in Durango has been found safe and was reunited with her family.

Nemeiah Walton went missing around 4:30 p.m. Saturday on the 600 block of Arroyo Drive, about a quarter-mile west of Needham Elementary School, but was “safely located” on Sunday afternoon, according to the Colorado Bureau of investigation.

She did not have access to a phone or vehicle when she went missing, according to the CBI Missing Indigenous Person Alert.

Walton was reportedly wearing a gray sweatshirt with red and black pajamas when she went missing.

Officer Leo Marr with the Durango Police Department said on Sunday morning that Walton’s mother reported her as a runaway.

“All runaway juveniles are entered into the missing person registry,” Marr said.

Marr said that Walton lived with her mother in the neighborhood where she went missing.

The girl’s disappearance was made public by the CBI utilizing its Missing Indigenous Person Alert system, which was deactivated once she was found.
