Seventeen vehicles were towed in downtown Durango in the predawn hours Saturday to allow city crews to clear snow from principal streets.
Towing companies, operating on a rotating basis, contract with the city for the service.
Retrieving a vehicle the next day costs $90 to $110, said Roy Petersen, director of city operations. It costs more if left longer in storage.
Ordinarily, a parking ticket for leaving a vehicle in the same areas between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. costs $12.
The snow removal Saturday covered Main Avenue and side streets between Main and East Second Avenue and Narrow Gauge.
