2 teens arrested in death of missing person in Aurora

AURORA – A 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy were arrested Thursday on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of a 24-year-old man reported missing earlier in the week, Aurora police said.

The names of the teens were not released because they are juveniles.

The victim, Gayland Delanore Allen, Jr., died of a gunshot wound, the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office said.

Allen was reported missing on Monday and his remains were found on Wednesday, police said.

Allen’s father told KUSA-TV that he went to his son’s home on Saturday because he was not returning phone calls and checked the security cameras. Camera video showed his son leaving his home just before 1 a.m. that day and getting into the backseat of a car, Gayland Allen Sr. said.

Allen’s father said his son’s twin sister died in a swimming pool accident when she was 8. A tattoo his son had on his arm in her memory is initially how he was identified, he said.

“I hoped to live as long as I could to watch him grow and raise a family, and now that won’t happen now,” he said. “And it angers me. It angers me and it saddens me a lot that I won’t have my son with me.”
