On the first of my twice-weekly visits to the coffee shop, I noticed that the 24-hour-a-day news was on the television. The serious-looking commentators were speaking and what they were saying was being typed on the screen. At the same time, something entirely different was running across the very bottom of the screen. It made me dizzy.
Later in the day horseback, I philosophized a bit on it. Why is there a need for news 24 hours a day? Especially when it’s mostly bad news. I think it’s to generate fear instead of hope. People are easier to control when they’re fearful and not hopeful.
I am pretty sure the only thing that is the “end of the world” is the end of the world. I think I’ll be hopeful that when I die, it’s horseback and not somewhere with the 24-hour news playing.
