40 and still in college

Bryant Liggett, standing, finishes a stint on air and makes way for Shawn Fergusson, host of “The Trading Post” at KDUR-FM in March.

KDUR-FM (91.9 and 93.9 and online atwww.kdur.org) is celebrating its 40th year with a battle of the alumni disc jockeys Friday to kick off its fall membership drive.

Former station manager Nancy Stoffer is mounting a campaign to overthrow reigning DJ Ted Holteen, but nothing says one of the other alumni won’t be a dark horse in the race. The winner takes home bragging rights and a traveling trophy created by artistic blacksmith Mike Brieger.

The DJ lineup is:

9 a.m., Tom Bartels; 10 a.m., Jack Llewellyn; 11 a.m., Sarah Baumgartner; 1 p.m., Dave Kerns; 2 p.m., Michele Malach; 3 p.m., Stoffer; and 4 p.m., Holteen.

Pledges may be called in at 247-4262 or made at www.kdur.org. The drive ends Oct. 10.

KDUR is celebrating its 40th anniversary with “Animal House” posters and T-shirts with the slogan “40-years-old and still in college.”
