A pair of local football teams punctuate Week 6 in YAFL

The fourth-grade Demons won in a rout; the sixth-grade Demons White were even two points better.

Durango’s Youth American Football League teams went 3-2 in Week 6, and two of their three victories were via the shutout:

The fourth-grade Demons beat Pagosa Springs 42-0 on Saturday to even their record at 3-3.

Jake Swift opened the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown run, and Douglas Malcom ran in the extra point.

Malcom threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Chavez, a 25-yard touchdown pass to Sam Greco (Malcom ran in the extra point), and he ran for a 22-yard touchdown.

Greco had two defensive touchdowns, and Jordan Stanley scored the final touchdown on a 26-yard interception return; Cole Matava ran in the extra point for the final 42-0 margin of victory.

The Demons will host the Bloomfield Bobcats at 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Middle School.

The Demons White beat the Aztec Raptors 44-0 on Saturday to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Everett Howland ran for three touchdowns – 55 yards, 25 yards and 12 yards – and caught a touchdown from Joe Arnwine in the victory.

Arnwine also threw a touchdown pass to Tim Miller.

Colby Bayse and Tanner Dukart led the defense with fumble recoveries.

The Demons White will host the Farmington Coyotes at 3 p.m. Saturday at Miller Middle School.

The sixth-grade Demons Red defeated the Pagosa Pirates 20-7 on Saturday in Pagosa Springs to even their record at 3-3.

Carver Willis had three touchdown passes in the game, all to Dylan Bakkebo.

Jayson Helms led the Demons’ defense with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

The Demons Red will play the Aztec Tigers at 11 a.m. Saturday in Aztec, N.M.

The second-grade Demons lost 14-7 to the Aztec Tigers on Saturday, and they were 1 yard shy of tying the game and forcing overtime.

Tyler Harms rushed for the Demons’ lone touchdown, while Samuel Litherbury had eight tackles for the defense.

The Durango Demons (1-3) will host the Farmington Sting at 9 a.m. Saturday at DHS Stadium.

The third-grade Demons lost 25-14 to the Aztec Tigers on Saturday.

The Durango Demons (3-3) will play the Montezuma Titans at 1 p.m. Saturday in Cortez.

The fifth-grade Durango Demons remained idle for the second consecutive week and will bring their 5-0 record and an unscored-upon defense to Cortez to face the Montezuma Titans at 11 a.m. Saturday.
