50-year reader changing with the times

I have enjoyed The Durango Herald for 50 years and am glad to have a paper so devoted to reporting our local news. The Herald keeps our community informed about local issues and holds local government and elected officials accountable. Without it, they could do whatever they want and we would never know.

I used to sit down with a cigarette and a drink each afternoon to read it. I thought life would end when the paper switched to morning delivery. I adjusted and love getting it before my day begins. And I will adjust again now that it is switching to mail delivery.

Several years ago I started spending winters in Atlanta and spent a lot of time stopping and starting my paper subscription. During those months away, I was cut off from local news and really missed knowing what was going on. So I switched to the online version.

I love it. I travel extensively, and no matter where I am, The Durango Herald is always at hand. I stay in touch and know what’s going on. I would have drifted away from Durango without it.

For those who have never tried the online version, give it a chance. It’s wonderful and easy. I can read it anytime. I can’t imagine The Durango Herald is a big moneymaker. Thank you for your commitment to Durango, for keeping it going and for changing with the times.
